DESTROYING DECEPTIONS THAT CAPTURE THE MIND
The Words of Jesus are Spirit and Life that overcome ingrained mental falsehoods. Knowledge of the written Word leads to greater relationship with the Living Word.
.
My people go into exile for their lack of knowledge… [Isaiah 5:13]
“If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.” [John 8:31-32]
The Lord has made access to His written Word extremely easy. The essential purpose for initially accessing the written Word of God is to discover God. One learns who He is, how much He cares for us, and also what He requires on our part to facilitate a lasting relationship. By acquiring knowledge of the Lord’s pure teachings one can break free from misleading false narratives, lies masquerading as Truth, and disabling deceptions imprisoning one on the other side of an otherwise bridgeless chasm.
OVERCOMING GUIDELINE GRIDLOCK
One must remember that the Early Church of the first century had no New Testament. Many did not even have access to the Old Testament Scriptures. Even at that time, people often believed and practiced not that which derived from the pure Word but from some religious leader’s interpretation of it, whether his intentions were noble or otherwise. There were scads of rabbis, doctors of the Law, synagogue leaders, and most notably, casuistic Pharisees who went so far as to essentially rewrite the OT through their endless oral traditions filled with Truth-debilitating minutia. The more they attempted to explain the Word of God the more they took their listeners away from God. Moses never did this. The prophets never did this. Moses, who was himself a prophet, and all the other real prophets in those ancient times simply delivered what God told them to deliver. If anyone got the message and understood, great. For those who did not it was their problem.
It is no different in our day in that so much of what Christians believe about the Word of God is actually not what is written right there in black and white but interpretive slants delivered by questionable Christian practitioners who often merely parrot denominational precepts, much as the Pharisees did, and overlay them upon the written Word in such a way that they have precedence and gain priority. All one must do to verify this, short of actually reading and studying the Word of God on one’s own (a novel concept for a probable majority of Christians), is visit a few other denominational churches.
Rather than cementing oneself in one place forever and hearing ad infinitum the same old same old that everyone there believes is the verbatim veracious version of the Lord’s teachings as if delivered from on high, one must at least occasionally visit the weirdos in other locales who beg to differ. One will discover that those Christians are also burdened with the same attitude of budgeless caution which was inflicted upon them, again, with good intentions or not, by interpretive teachers doing interpretive word dances as the conservative counterparts to the strange artsy folk who engage in odd expositions of poetry and dance.
Some churches put forth what are essentially emotionless drones who must think God requires them to be religious robots and otherworldly autocratic automatons appearing as ecclesiastically-cloaked talking statues. Emotion with these guys is verboten. Other churches at the other extreme have moving, walking, emotive talker-shouters who appear as fidgety née ferocious hyperactives which may or may not be under God’s actual spiritual anointing. In between are all manner of speakers-forth delivering various shadings of the same Word of God though emphasizing some parts and neglecting others (and often violently rejecting others).
And God looks down on all this duded-up strangeness and wonders how such strayings have taken hold in the minds of apparent believers because the very opposite of His intentions have been established in that He came here to unify His children rather than Tower of Babel them into impossible religious divisions which were also all the rage in His day. He did come to separate, of course, but only the sheep from the goats. What Unreal Christianity has done is to separate, at least on the surface, the sheep from the sheep and in that process created a construct for the invasion of conquering goats who seek to rule the sheep and effectively shroud the Word of God rather than share it. And instead of assisting the Lord to create open green pastures of luxuriant spiritual richness containing much more sustenance than enough for all, we have the equivalent of a barbwire kingdom of sectioned off partisan neoranches each sternly guarded by hardened shotgun-wielding cowhands intent on maintaining division and hatred for those unlike themselves. Rather than a dude ranch it’s a rude ranch. There’s a vast ponderosa of non-ponderable opposing pardners.
A CONFUSION OF LANGUAGES
Like their ancient contemporaries though in reverse, Christian dissemblers have confused God’s one universal language into a multitude of languages and rejected His one Gospel for many counterfeit variations thereof. Rather than joining and supporting the Lord’s single Community created at Pentecost they have created thousands of non-relational communities each with its own distinct language. And they continue with ongoing multiple subdivisions. Rather than “accurately handling the word of truth,” [1] they inaccurately mishandle it and thereby create doctrinal divisions which further divide the people.
The only cure for all their resultant multitudinous nonsensical wordfare permeations is entirely bypassing the faux bloviaters pontificating from fixed pulpits and lecterns of luxation and going straight to the Word of God. When the middleman does not assist us correctly under God’s authority, eliminate the middleman! Christians must learn, on so many levels, to show some spiritual spine, but most of all through the simplest, most profound, and potentially abundant fruitful process of reading the Bible.
I know, it’s tough. It’s pretty much impossible. It’s so big! It’ll take forever! Working one’s life away to old age for money is much easier. Going to a million church services to hear mere drips which never get collected into so much as the bottom half of a bait bucket is far preferable to wrenching open a fire hydrant and flooding one’s soul with life-giving Word water from which one will never thirst again. Better to drag oneself through a religious desert and occasionally suck out the moisture from a dead cactus, thorns be damned, than float upon and dive within an endless bottomless fresh water ocean filled with nutritive spiritual plankton satisfying all hunger, answering every question, and fulfilling every need.
THE GREAT AWAKENING DEMANDS GREAT DISCIPLESHIP
We must be disciples. Considering what is now upon us, as I have been warning of for the last quarter century (it’s all mapped out in my book), fence-sitting not-clear-on-the-concept don’t-confuse-me-with-facts Christians in general will either get it together finally at last or never gain the required closeness to the Lord, spiritual strength and stamina, eyes to see, and knowledge of God’s Word to overcome. We are way past the watch out for weirdos stage and the I’m too cool for school cred demanded by the social media acceptance wokesters. The enemy is here. He’s not hiding anymore. He’s determined to get you. He’s no longer playing the long term deceive you gradually into oblivion game. Instead of slowly boiling the frog he is now simply stomping on it. If you are not ready for the fight you must get there quick. The battle is upon us whether we know it or not or acknowledge it or not. This is not a drill.
In the meantime, here is an encouraging word that applies forever in every instance on every applicable occasion and illustrates the Lord’s great love for His children and ability to kick the devil’s backside always:
The seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.” And He said to them, “I was watching Satan fall from heaven like lightning. Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing will injure you. Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are recorded in heaven.” [Luke 10:17-20] [2]

Duded up strangeness…Lol. Been there, done that, got the t-shirt! 🙂Best way to keep it real with God and others is to walk humbly with Him and stay in the Word. But I am loving the diversity of His Kingdom more and more and I have found myself drawn closer to reverent listening and reading of the Word the past year. In the ‘new abnormal’ COVID world, I’ve enjoyed online visiting at Canterbury Cathedral’s morning readings of Scripture, or sometimes joining in on an evening of Alleluia shouts at a fired up HolyGhost meeting in Maryland, or praying with faith friends in South Africa. God’s got some family out there! And the righteous who walk humbly with Him seem to be shining brighter and brighter.

Love this comment, Susan! I also love all the diversity, especially in these days when there is so much cross pollination going on and so much is available on the net. You have listed a great selection of various approaches. We must all see how the other half lives, how the other 99% of Christians do their Christianity. There is certainly much strangeness and many, many strayings from the Word but there is also the ONE that we all have in common, and that is the Lord Jesus, of course, our Great Leader and Loving Father.
An outsider may wonder how in the world all these Christian expressions you list could have somehow descended from the Lord’s one initial Community. One obvious reason is a lack of communication due to different “languages.” But even in this strange brew there are many new connecting parts and innocent, honest outreachings. If we put Love first we have a great chance at not only greater understanding but the opportunity to present Real New Testament, Real Gospel, and Real Book of Acts Truth to all.
We must all work harder at being real and better disciples and do a tad better at getting along. Nevertheless, the Lord’s Truth and Real Teachings must be paramount. We must dedicate ourselves to reading and studying the New Covenant Scriptures. When we follow and obey the Lord as the first century believers did, Pentecost happens. Great Awakenings break out. The Lord’s people grow very strong and united and spiritual enemies are defeated.
Blessings to you Susan. Thanks again for a great comment. (Please see my previous post. I think you’ll enjoy it.)

RJ. I just finished blogging John 17:22. All of God’s gifts to us are multi-purpose, the primary reasons for them? 1. To unite us in Christ. 2. to bless others.
Simple. But profound.

Interesting blog today RJ. Reading it, you wrote, “…than joining and supporting the Lord’s single Community”…. That reminds me of Watchman Nee’s idea and desire to see a singular village, town or city church instead of a multitude of denominations. Have always loved his idea but always wondered how long it would take for sectarianism to rear its ugly head.
Imagine what could have been done in communities everywhere when everyone pooled their resources to disciple/serve on another instead of buying another plane for parts overseas or a single leader holding simulcasts around the country due to their “fame”?
Funny too that with the multitude of voices, prophetic in particular leading up to January 20th that A.W. Tozer came to mind today and I pulled up his quotation from “The Pursuit of God” as follows,
“Someone may fear that we are magnifying private religion out of all proportion, that the `us’ of the New Testament is being displaced by a selfish `I.’ Has it ever occurred to you that one hundred pianos all tuned to the same fork are automatically tuned to each other? They are of one accord by being tuned, not to each other, but to another standard to which each one must individually bow. So one hundred worshippers met together, each one looking away to Christ, are in heart nearer to each other than they could possibly be were they to become `unity’ conscious and turn their eyes away from God to strive for closer fellowship. Social religion is perfected when private religion is purified. The body becomes stronger as its members become healthier. The whole Church of God gains when the members that compose it begin to seek a better and higher life.”
My prayer is that He would bring this to pass sooner rather than later as the Old Covenant was based upon man’s vow to God. Exodus 19:8 and the New Covenant based on God’s vow to man. Deuteronomy 29:10, 11, 12, 13. The success of the New Covenant is not based on the ability of men to follow through on their vows, as we see with the Old therefore the New is based fully upon the ability of God to fulfill what He has promised, the Great Piano tuner! Dr. Stephen Jones, “The Two Covenants”
Blessings to you and yours.

Thanks Tanya. Great to hear from you and a great comment. Regarding Tozer’s quote, which I was not aware of, I argued this strongly in my book and, of course, in this blog over the last almost ten years. Strong communities of the Lord are composed of strong individual disciples. Individual discipleship depends on the will of the individual. The bulk of one’s spiritual progress is based purely on one’s individual work in following and obeying the Lord and doing what is required, no matter how difficult or challenging, to serve Him to the best of one’s ability according to His will to fulfill his individual calling. Thus, if every believer spent much time and effort on their individual walk we would have many more strong individual disciples. Putting them together to work in unity then creates the strongest of spiritual communities. We need each other, of course, but we don’t need a bunch of spiritual wimps, bench-warmers, and fence-sitters. Real Christianity demands total commitment, and this should be obvious but most apparently remain oblivious. It is a 100% proposition. Otherwise it will never work. Whatever other forms of Christianity there are (Unreal Christianity), they are essentially no real threat to the devil.
Back in the 1990s, if not probably before, I saw that the Lord was in the process of creating such strong individual disciples, but also that these were alone, pretty much on their own regarding their purpose, and it was a tough road. They were not aware of each other. Their individual dedicated discipleship would later prove more fruitful because I also saw that the Lord would at some point begin joining these disciples together.
It is why I remain ever-confident of the future regarding the Lord’s plans and purposes. The devil always plans in advance, but so does Lord, and much further in advance. The Lord’s enemies are always at a ridiculous disadvantage but He makes it more interesting by using low estate humans who are further weakened in the flesh through discipleship and appear outwardly to the enemy as easy pickings. This is why the enemy is so incensed when losing to what appears to be, for all intents and purposes, losers. The Lord is making a point of His greatness by putting the Bad News Bears out there against a formidable foe and still winning through them.
Regarding the enemy’s advance planning, whatever trends the enemy can see and plan for the Lord already saw it and has him trumped. He always has him trumped. Thus, the Lord is always in charge, knows exactly what He is doing, and can accomplish His will in the earth even if He only has the spiritual equivalent of Gideon’s 300 to work with.
He has always had a plan for the shenanigans perpetrated last year and I have no doubt whatsoever that He has the required number of strong individual disciples and groupings of disciples and communication lines of both by this time which will prove effective. Last year was a test in so many ways to reveal and expose the enemy, to break long-held deceptions, and to showcase the frauds, Judases, and Benedict Arnolds. I believe it was God’s way of showing His children the Real vs. the Unreal and the evil ones masquerading as good guys. He pulled back the curtain and is still pulling it back. And once you see the bad guys you thought were good guys you can never unsee them as such and you know they will never change. In other words, their cover was blown and those close to God now have it confirmed, if they still were not sure, that they were frauds all along.
Those who engage in evil and get away with it increase their level of evil and eventually set themselves up for a total fall. It is why the best at doing this must remain hidden or at least assume false identities and pretend to be something they are not in order to survive and have their enterprises survive.
Whatever they do, however, no matter how well planned or diabolical, they will always end up in the end as mere Midianites who became so confused in battle they destroyed one another.
And each stood in his place around the camp; and all the army ran, crying out as they fled. And when they blew the three hundred trumpets, the Lord set the sword of one against another even throughout the entire army; and the army fled… [Judges 7:21-22]
Blessings to you, Tanya.

Talk about food for thought RJ, I am stuffed for all the wonderful TRUTH you always present. How many people warm a pew on sunday only to return to their sin on monday. Those warm and fuzzy sugar coated messages so many love are sending them so far from God it’s not funny. Sadly with so many different bibles now printed masquerading as truth people don’t even question where the truth is. There’s way too many bible translations out there. I stick with the King James Version. I love the last passage you give….It really is simply wonderful our names are in heaven, but in the mean time our journey here is to tell the truth to as many as we can pulling them out of the fire in hopes of saving some. Be Blessed in Him.

Thank you Julia. Much appreciation. The Lord Jesus has Truth enough to overflow us at any time in any place. He is a Well that never runs dry. Real spiritual discipline is not easy to accept and apply but all the difficulty and hard work associated with it pays rich spiritual dividends and amazing unending spiritual fruit, as well as the strength and courage we need to stand for the Lord, work for the Lord, achieve for the Lord, and win victories for the Lord.
Blessings to you.
