The Name of God: The Name Above Every Name
There is much confusion within Christianity in general regarding the person of the Lord Jesus. I have composed this ten-part series to give further explanation of His identity. The links follow below.
Though it is sometimes difficult to grasp the Lord’s pure revelation, it is mostly extremely difficult to overcome false doctrine, bad teaching, and incorrect suppositions.
Sometimes, we may stop along the truth path and set up camp not being willing to go further. Let it be known that the closer one travels toward truth the harder the path becomes and one must show greater strength, courage, and resiliency to keep moving forward. This is in part why He refers to his real followers as disciples.
Many people give up or accept counterfeits to make life easier, to honor their religious culture, or often do not realize there is much more for them. Most “Christians” are far too easily satisfied with less than the best. The courageous at heart, however, refuse substitutes and press on regardless of circumstances or what people may think.
Remember, the Lord never let what people thought of Him stop Him, though He was vilified falsely in His time by His very own. They tried to kill Him from the very beginning. They reviled His Holy Name. They called Him a drunk and a glutton. They said He was demon-possessed. They claimed He was crazy. They insisted He was an illegitimate child. They said He was a false prophet and a violator of the Torah.
Even today, “Christians” by and large refuse to honor Him appropriately. They insist on thinking of Him as much less than who He actually is. And though the sinful world of mankind has no spiritual eyes, it seems to have a generally favorable opinion of Him, but not so much of His “followers.” Perhaps that is because, among “His own,” the Lord Jesus is falsely portrayed and dissed all day long.
The reality is that the Lord Jesus is the one God. There is no other. He deserves our best. We must give Him His full due. He is not a part of God, He is not only the Son of God, He is not one head of a three-headed God, and He is not “the second person of the trinity.”
He is GOD. He is YHWH. He is the great I AM. And He has “the NAME which is above every name.”
Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “Rulers and elders of the people, if we are on trial today for a benefit done to a sick man, as to how this man has been made well, let it be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead—by this name this man stands here before you in good health. He is the STONE WHICH WAS REJECTED by you, THE BUILDERS, but WHICH BECAME THE CHIEF CORNER stone.
And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.” [Acts 4:8-12] [1]
