STATING THE OBVIOUS

(Apparently not.) The obvious is a tough sell with the oblivious. Obvious proofs appear foreign to them. Facts are confusing. Truth provokes anger.

.

THE RECEPTION OF DECEPTION

It is much easier to deceive people than convince them they have been deceived.

And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, in whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. [2Corinthians 4:3-4]

It is hard to understand how the oblivious can willingly reject truth and willfully embrace deception. This is easier to comprehend when one considers the great power of conventionality and traditional mindsets coupled with peer pressure and one’s desire to fit in to society. Adding intellectual laziness, little or no actual historical knowledge, a general lack of discipline, narcissism/vanity/pride, no interest beyond the moment (presentism), and the absence of a spiritual backbone to stand up for the Lord Jesus and the picture comes more into focus. Such people become much more accepting of prevailing shallow social norms, including cultural decadence, and fear any personal deviations so they can better “assimilate” and avoid being perceived as standing apart or “marching to the beat of a different drummer.” Historically, the vast majority has always chosen this path. It is that which the Lord Jesus referred to as the “broad way:”

“Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.” [Matthew 7:13-14]

FLESH AND SPIRIT

“It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.” [John 6:63]

Those who choose the broad way put all their confidence and assurance in what the New Testament identifies as the “flesh.” This term refers to the human body and human nature, that which is external, as opposed to the spirit. The Lord Jesus referred to these two several times and taught the clear distinction between each, instructing His disciples that one must not be governed by mere flesh and the lusts thereof but by the spirit, and that one must submit both to His leading.

Of course, due to the fallen sin nature of all human beings prior to being born again from above and obtaining a spiritual nature, living in the flesh will always result in personal sinful choices and opposition to God. Though some people living according to their fallen human nature may work hard at disciplining themselves and limiting their sinful choices they are still living according to a non-spiritual standard based on that which is, according to the Lord Jesus, “weak” and “profits nothing.” It is therefore impossible to please God while living according to the flesh, since one is not living by faith, which can only be accomplished by living in the spirit. This has never stopped people, however, from creating religions in which people continue living in the flesh according to mere human religious standards dictated by authoritarian leaders who eschew the necessity of a new spiritual birth.

The following Scriptural warning thus also applies to the majority of that which is referred to as “Christianity,” that which I term Unreal Christianity:

Beware of the dogs, beware of the evil workers, beware of the false circumcision; for we are the true circumcision, who worship in the Spirit of God and glory in Christ Jesus and put no confidence in the flesh… [Philippians 3:2-3]

Those who choose the broad way do so not only because it is far easier than the correct path—the narrow way—but also because they prefer the flesh to the spirit. In New Testament terms this means relying on one’s own carnal abilities and fallen human nature and that of others. They prefer groupthink, that which seeks agreement at all costs, though always results in irrational dysfunction. They simply cannot handle independent thought which might lead them to question unproven and contrived consensus narratives and otherwise obvious deceptions (which the Lord warned would lead to destruction). Rather than take their comfort in the Lord, the people who choose the broad way take comfort in one another and follow their own accepted and chosen flawed leaders. Such people are much more comfortable surrounded by those who believe the same and adhere to the same general social construct and are thus reassured, incorrectly, that so many people, the majority they meld with, can’t possibly be wrong.

Such superficial social constructs are ubiquitous and may appear in several forms. Most are well aware of the secular variety but these also include the religious realm, which include the “Christian” realm, which feature offshoot Christian social constructs including major traditional denominations. These are merely based on real Christianity, in various limited arrangements, and which attempt to make real Christianity more palatable and acceptable (easy), to gain a larger market share and influence (allow for large masses), which effectively more closely resembles the “broad way” the Lord Jesus warned us about…

Thus, many Christian bodies et al, existing as yet another form of digression to divert one from the one narrow way the Lord Jesus taught must be followed if one is to gain salvation and eternal life, often mimic the spiritually dead secular culture and its many spinoffs and cults thereof. This includes, of course, the ever-present and powerful contemporary deception cult of these times, the Cult of Woke, which was created by the agenda masters to help counteract and head off the current Great Awakening. It exists essentially as an anti-awake and anti-aware sleep-fest designed to be a reactionary antichrist insurgency driving decadence and ignorance against the massive emerging truth and spiritual freedom movement of our national American Great Awakening which began at least thirteen years ago.

This irrational, illogical cult is promoted primarily by the zombifying corporate television mass media and big tech social media firms (which are supported by many Christians that may not perceive the overall agenda) by way of universal 1984-style telescreens of every size dominated by agenda-based platforms utilizing superficial collectivist dictums, controlling consensus narratives, and censorship of truth. Sadly, this strange but trendy belief system has fully captured the willing minds of multiple millions in America to the tune of possibly half the country which would otherwise stand a good chance of being awakened by the obvious.

This, again, includes Christians and explains the many woke churches. The Lord Jesus taught that one must either accept Him and His full teachings or not at all which also explains why so many “Christians” are deceived and become more deceived going forward. Such slumber-induced deception also occurs for the most part due to an inability or refusal to properly identify one’s greatest threat—that of pure unadulterated masquerading evil—and its thoughtless proponents are even brainwashed to unknowingly embrace an ancient folly:

Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil;

Who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness;

Who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!

Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes

And clever in their own sight! [Isaiah 5:20-21]

The deceived ones living in their dream world therefore lose their ability to perceive wickedness guised in holiness (Matthew 23:27), cannot comprehend wolves in sheep’s clothing (Matthew 7:15), and fail to recognize Satan appearing as an angel of light (2Corinthians 11:14). This results in a flippant disregard of unseen evil—a dismissal of malevolent spiritual reality—and amounts to actually joining it, completely unaware of its true nature and hidden proponents. It also obviously disallows one’s vital defense against evil as portrayed in the following:

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. [Ephesians 6:12-13]

ENTER THE KINGDOM

The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous runs into it and is safe. [Proverbs 18:10]

Remember, there is only one Community of the Lord—the one the Lord Jesus founded in the very beginning—which, unlike various Christian bodies, includes ALL the teachings of the Lord and in which the Lord Jesus and no other is the principal Instructor and personage and His full curriculum the focal point, not just a portion of His teachings or the emphasis on a few, with the following two commandments as the greatest:

“‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the great and foremost commandment. The second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets.” [Matthew 22:37-40]

These commandments are not honored, obeyed, and practiced outside the Lord’s Kingdom, which is a purely spiritual Kingdom, and is not of this world. Consequently, His Community needs no heavy-handed hierarchies, dictating religious authoritarians, and extra-Biblical enforcement doctrines to make it work and hold it together, as in the counterfeit Christian kingdoms, because the Lord Jesus makes it all work through His unconditional love, His presiding authority, His full curriculum, and His Holy Spirit. His followers make it work by trusting and obeying Him, working with Him and each other, and applying His Word.

Again, counterfeit Christian social constructs merely mimic the dead culture’s means and social mores instead of submitting fully to the Lord Jesus and granting Him complete authority, which would thereby establish His methods and measures. But this otherwise obvious spiritual solution is disdained as it portends a loss of religious control and status, resultant material benefits, and personal independence (which includes walking in the flesh). The following pretty much sums it up:

“No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth.” [Matthew 6:24]

THEY WILL BELIEVE ANY LIE—AND DEFEND IT

Also, to maintain such a low common denominator social construct, the committed advocates of such make anyone who differs from said construct pay, and pay dearly, for any apparent personal boldness and oppositional independence. Those who, without thinking and sans research, made the commitment and toed the mark and became just another nameless and faceless brick in the wall feel that those who don’t fully commit and become a fellow brick (a brainwashed brick), or do but then later question something about it, must have a problem with their perfect collective construct. They do not appreciate seeing that to which they invested in and gave their lives held in perceived low regard. In this they attempt to nip independent thought in the bud and set an example for any others so inclined.

And not stopping there, they become chief persecutors manifesting their hate and anger against those they persecute and discriminate against. Sound familiar? They will go so far as to destroy a person and his or her reputation and make it virtually impossible to continue living within such a construct unless that person apologizes and does penance, often to a grossly degrading degree, in order to continue partaking of the good there, which usually involves economic good and a better material life (Matthew 6:24), but primarily involves being accepted as a member in good standing. These submissive and submitted ones who care more about their social credit score than their place in God, by succumbing to the hive mind, thereby avoid being subjected to the infamous “third degree” of their overlords (their betters) and no longer have to watch their backs among their associates or worry about their wrath. They become fully conformed cult fellows having mastered doing all they are told and believing all they are taught.

Many of these people, likely most, unfortunately, by willingly subjecting themselves to such demeaning degradation and deception are never the same. They learn to toe the mark as they should and never again question anything in order to avoid the thought police, having their conscience seared with a hot iron (1Timothy 4:2). People do this because:

(1) They become greatly fearful; they give in to fear. They have no courage to walk in faith with the Lord.

(2) They don’t have enough self-confidence or knowledge to maintain an independent position or defend it (that which allows for additional information and truth) against the domineering crowd staring them down and threatening their social standing if they don’t conform.

(3) They do not want to appear as a deviant. They can’t handle the thought of being a social outcast.

The much better otherwise obvious course of action would be to get away from such a compromised band of mockers post haste as soon as possible. But most don’t. They’re too willingly unwise. They’re too willingly unwilling. Truth would assist their escape and make them free but obvious truth escapes them.

THE DOUBLE DOWN PRINCIPLE

Such choices thus eventuate in an overall lack of awareness, a dearth of knowledge, and common apathy. When these truths are revealed to them, through whatever means, it is not appreciated. In general, people don’t like it when they discover their ignorance. They don’t like it when their lack of knowledge is exposed. They don’t like it when their level of understanding is challenged. They don’t like it when what they believe to be true is proven to be false. They don’t like it when so much of what they believe is nothing more than the end result of successful propaganda campaigns. In the realm of religion such propaganda is often mere indoctrination and people don’t like having their belief systems challenged or exposed as not only incorrect but largely baseless. It throws them off. It rocks their boat. It craters their foundation.

Hence, the double down. Rather than calmly putting their ignorance, accepted knowledge quotient, level of understanding, concept of truth, personal religious beliefs, world view, and cult indoctrination TO THE TEST, they instead double down and consider any and all opposition as fighting words. This means ignorance is truly bliss but only until such a one’s ignorance is revealed. It is then that bliss often becomes anger. Quickly. And by doubling down against correction their ignorance becomes all the more set in concrete. Again, it is much easier to deceive people than convince them they have been deceived.

WHY CERTAIN PEOPLE INSTANTLY HATED THE LORD JESUS

But the Pharisees went out and conspired against Him, as to how they might destroy Him. [Matthew 12:14]

It mattered not that He did everything He could to not tick people off; many got ticked off anyway. For the Lord, the anger He aroused in others by His perfect teachings was not intentional, not usually anyway, but merely the byproduct of exposing that which was incorrect by teaching that which IS correct. Those that had already figured everything out, knew it all, constructed and/or supported a fake religion or cult and built their lives on such sand foundations were bound to clash with the Rock who actually did know it all.

And because such ignorant virtue-signaling hypocrites walked around in great fleshly pride while the Lord Jesus presented Himself as a humble servant, it made it all the more infuriating. It proved their sense of superiority had no actual place except in an external sense because one cannot be prideful if one is incorrect, especially in the religious realm, so whoever inadvertently exposes one to be incorrect must be made to pay. If, on the other hand, through hearing the preaching of the Gospel, one perceives himself as incorrect, and especially an incorrect sinner, and wants to be freed from his sinful condition, he will repent and do his best to get right with the Lord and be reconciled to Him. However, if one insists he and his religious social construct are superior to the Lord and refuses to acknowledge his sin and repent then the Lord must be made to pay.

To repeat these choices:

(1) One will recognize himself as a sinner in need of a Savior and repent properly and correctly which amounts to throwing himself upon an altar of repentance and destroying his lower temporary life within the realm of fallen humanity (that which Scripture states is one’s initial crucifying of the flesh), in order to gain salvation and therefore preserve his spiritual eternal life (one must be born again according to the Lord’s instructions), OR

(2) One will advocate for and participate in crucifying the Lord.

Hence, again, those who clash with truth and perceive the Lord’s teachings as fighting words reveal themselves as the unrepentant indoctrinated who cannot be reached by stating the obvious.

In the Lord’s time, such people obviously consisted of those within the primary Israelite religious parties as stated in the gospels and New Testament literature. That the religious elite of these parties were brainwashed is obviously evident and is one thing (and some or many of them were demon possessed). Unfortunately, it is also evident and another thing that the elite had religiously indoctrinated many if not most of the Israelite people which in part served to effectively keep as many Israelites as possible from receiving the Gospel. They did this primarily using fear and control tactics. Many Israelites were thus forever fearful they would, (1) be put out of the synagogue, (2) lose their place in society, and (3) suffer financial ruin. Such was the power the religious elites held. It has been true ever since. Sound familiar?

WHY CERTAIN PEOPLE INSTANTLY LOVED THE LORD JESUS

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Do not be carried away by varied and strange teachings. [Hebrews 13:8]

“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” [Matthew 11:28-30]

One will notice that those who appreciated the Lord Jesus and became His followers back in His time were most often humble and self-effacing. In essence, they were teachable. They had no problem having their ignorance and lack of knowledge pointed out because they were already well aware of it and wanted change for the better. They also knew they were sinners (though not necessarily by that term), in violation of their conscience, and burdened by shame, and wanted this to change also. However, interestingly enough, they were most often better informed and equipped than the unrepentant who falsely deemed themselves superior. They also already knew they were victims of false teachings or lack of teaching and wanted to be taught the truth. Though looked down upon they refused to do as so many others did, those who lived their lives by simply going along to get along. Those who loved the Lord had no regard for such low common denominator kindergarten knowledge levels—a child’s way of thinking—that so many adults incorporated without any thinking. Hence, those who followed the Lord were by and large critical thinkers. They wanted to know. By rejecting society’s false notions and its embraced general ignorance they were willing to be rejected by society in order to be accepted by the Lord. They loved truth.

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.” [John 14:6]

“If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.” [John 8:31-32]

In addition, new believers noticed right off that the bigwigs, both secular and religious, had rejected Jesus from the get go and, again, they personally identified with such rejection. Most of His followers were in some way solitary social misfits that somehow fit perfectly in the Lord’s band of spiritual brothers and sisters. When they found the Lord (when He found them), their lives suddenly made sense. Therefore, it was relatively easy for such people to put their acquired knowledge and level of truth to the test because whatever they had possessed to that point never got them much in life anyway. And they were also ready and willing to jettison anything that clashed with the Lord’s curriculum or stood in opposition against Him, including incorrect interpretations of His teachings, false doctrines, aberrant cultural traditions, fabricated social narratives and programming, religious indoctrination, or societal status:

For consider your calling, brethren, that there were not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble; but God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong, and the base things of the world and the despised God has chosen, the things that are not, so that He may nullify the things that are, so that no man may boast before God. But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption, so that, just as it is written, “Let him who boasts, boast in the Lord.” [1Corinthians 1:26-31]

Those original followers of Jesus were serious disciples-to-be who developed into mature effective disciples in good standing and were part of those who turned the then known world upside down (Acts 17:6). They were a major part of the very first Great Awakening. They accepted their callings with joy. They took what the Lord gave them and ran with it. They fought the good fight of faith. They were excellent witnesses. They effected great spiritual change for the better, allowing the Lord to work through them shedding His Light everywhere.

Most of all, they proclaimed incessantly from the housetops and high hills that the Lord Jesus was not only the long prophesied Anointed One, the Messiah—Yehoshua HaMashiach—and was not only our Good Shepherd, and was not only our only Savior, and was not only the Son of God, but was and is also God Himself—the Creator of the Universe—something the Lord Jesus had proved repeatedly during His ministry for all who had eyes to see.

And just as their Lord had done so brilliantly, our first-century forebears spent the rest of their lives STATING THE OBVIOUS.

And He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up; and as was His custom, He entered the synagogue on the Sabbath, and stood up to read. And the book of the prophet Isaiah was handed to Him. And He opened the book and found the place where it was written,

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me,

Because He anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor.

He has sent Me to proclaim release to the captives,

And recovery of sight to the blind,

To set free those who are oppressed,

To proclaim the favorable year of the Lord.”

And He closed the book, gave it back to the attendant and sat down; and the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on Him.

And He began to say to them, “Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.” [Luke 4:16-21] [1]

  1. Glad to see you back, RJ and hope you’re in good health! There’s so much to think and reflect on within your post- very well thought out. I get very frustrated with the lack of awareness or simply the unwillingness of others to seek the truth. It’s really disheartening, but I continue to pray that more will seek God with their whole heart. I see many “waking up” to recognizing the good and evil in this world, BUT I’m not seeing much repentance and turning away from sin in these people’s lives. So I pray they will come to the Lord fully and humbly, but until then, we must be discerning and follow the truth. God bless and thanks, again!

    • Thank You Amber! Excellent comment. Things are progressing. I appreciate your concern. Regarding the Awakening, it is a process. Many have and are becoming aware of the many false façades and are seeing more truth. There remains for many, however, a solution deficit. Once they understand the Lord Jesus is the only Way regardless of circumstances, no matter how challenging, the natural inclination is to turn to Him. He said He loves us. He said He can do anything to help us. He said He is more than willing. He is willing to be put to the test. He has the power. Once our confidence rests securely in Him and we obey Him He can change things for the better. This means we need more preachers, teachers, ministers, writers, and witnesses willing to tell the truth and draw clear distinctions between this world and His Kingdom, between spirit and flesh, and between the Lord’s real Christianity and the counterfeits which may look and sound good but are unable to effect real spiritual change. The real Gospel message promotes real repentance. Of course, we see this entire process at work in the Book of Acts.

Keep up the good work! Blessings to you and your family.

  2. I saw bad becoming good with the youth of the 80s when I was a youth director. It boggled my mind. I did not think that such a large number of churches and denominations were so lacking in a foundational relationship with Christ. Instead many resembled the tumbleweed on the loose.
We must strive daily to meet with our Lord and be Spirit led in all things, especially our conversation in wisdom…whether to speak truth or be silent. Live truth and seek out others living out the truth of the gospel. Knowing when and where we say the obvious to the oblivious as Jesus would…or possibly write in the sand.

    • Yes. Excellent comment. Thanks for the history. I was born again and Spirit-filled in 1976 and thanks to the Lord hit the ground running. Four services and more a week was not enough and I had to add the self-taught route. The more I learned about actual New Testament truth, Biblical history, and Christian history, including denominational beliefs, the more taken aback I was (understatement alert) about the great divergence from the Lord’s pure teachings. And then, realizing most refused to change even one iota made me realize what we were up against.

And yet this was also during a time of great Christian spiritual transformation for the better and it still had comparatively little impact in America. I learned to be thankful for the improvement there was and had hope of more though much never materialized. We then bottomed out until this current Great Awakening though much of this has been driven by non-believers searching for truth and reality. I can’t imagine what the Lord thinks of this in that His own people, supposedly, get trumped by non-Christians who are doing great work in this area.

Bob Dylan wrote “When You Gonna Wake Up?” around 1979. Imagine that. And instead of waking up, much of Christianity has instead grown even more distant from the Lord and even degenerate. Apparently, when religious leaders in control refuse to follow the Lord correctly they will go in the other direction. Flesh over Spirit, sadly.

We must be thankful, though, for so many Christians who are awake and doing their best to shed Light and Truth. There are MANY. Keep up the good work, Gary. Thanks for taking the time to stop by. I appreciate it. Be Blessed.

  3. This article is like finding a pool of pure, drinkable water in a desert of mirages. It is heartbreaking to me that people who claim to know the Lord are so easily duped by Wokeism. Wokeism feeds into our need to feel good about ourselves. We SO want to be a part of the “feel good” movement that we have forgotten that the heart of mankind is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked. “Just be nice.” Which means, “never say or do anything that makes anyone else feel bad about themselves.” It is the absolute refusal to acknowledge sin.

    We will reap the whirlwind.

    • Funny you should say that, Linda. I remember watching Clinton’s first inauguration over thirty years ago in 1993. I recorded it. I wanted a record to show how far America was falling so fast. I was expressing the same general sentiments then that I wrote in this article, but with likely more fervency. For whatever reason, Billy Graham was chosen to give the invocation and benediction. Speaking of America, Billy Graham said, “We’ve sown to the wind and are reaping the whirlwind.” I was somewhat shocked that such truth would be spoken at that time in that place. I never forgot it.

Thank you for a great comment and your kind words and support. What you have spoken here also reminds me of something a Christian author once said several years ago in speaking about the Lord Jesus. I am paraphrasing here and going by memory but it was something like the following. If Jesus was actually just a super nice guy that wanted to get along with everyone and “feel good” about Himself and represented no threat whatsoever, “Why did they crucify Him? Why would anyone want to crucify Captain Kangaroo?”

The reality, of course, is that our Lord Jesus is the most powerful Man that ever walked the planet. He has a greatly powerful presence (massive understatement alert). He was the very opposite of the way so many Christians portray Him. We must be like Him.

      Blessings to you

  4. I remember that too, about Billy Graham. I was sickened by Clinton back then, without even knowing that he was already a womanizer, never mind deceitful in so many other ways. The fall this country is taking got its start a very long time ago. I pray that the Awakening will sweep the country like a giant tsunami before we lose everything.

    • So do I. It is why the Lord created it, of course. His great shining spiritual LIGHT exposes everything. They say sunlight is the best disinfectant. The Lord’s LIGHT is the best spiritual disinfectant. It exposes all hidden sin, all hidden corruption, all hidden evil, all hidden evil agendas, and all the hidden evil people perpetrating them, those who work in concert with the enemy.

No one can hide from the Lord. The best one can do is live a masquerade and fool others. Yet most people are deceived themselves or self-deceived and don’t even know they are or are doing the enemy’s work. They take their cues from the social, cultural, and religious movers and shakers, those who drive the narratives, establish the agendas, and sit atop the pyramids. We all learn in some way to do what we are told from a very young age and believe what we are taught before we have the ability to question anything. It is only those who, for whatever reason, don’t fully trust the process and then see something that doesn’t add up. They may happen to notice something odd, maybe get a glimpse of backstage or notice a prop. After a while, for those so inclined, clues begin adding up. At some point they begin to forego passivity and mere “noticing” and start taking the initiative to search. They then grow hungry for truth. They then understand they must question everything to establish truth credentials. Whatever doesn’t remain is thus exposed as fraud.

At present, the highly intelligent agenda masters have so utilized every tool of psychology they know exactly how to deceive even great populations and are doing a masterful job of it with the majority none the wiser. People are being played and hoaxed to a great degree. IT IS OBVIOUS unless one is among the oblivious.

However, the enemy and his minions can never put out the great LIGHT of the Lord Jesus. They will never overcome Him. While they are doing their great dirty work He is exposing all of it all the more. Real Christians KNOW this. Even non-believers are seeing MUCH.

As Paul wrote, The Law came in so that the transgression would increase; but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more, so that, as sin reigned in death, even so grace would reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. [Romans 5:20-21]

There will always be more grace than sin. Grace will always abound.

In the same way, there will always be more LIGHT than darkness. GOOD will always overcome evil. However, the Lord must have agents on the ground. He must have us to work with. He does His work through humanity. Each real disciple of the Lord must consequently join the Lord and give all of his or her heart to mature and develop as real disciples in order to be as effective as possible. Sadly, the vast majority of Christian denominations and churches have failed miserably at this and we are seeing the results of faux Christianity’s failure in America at present. And they still refuse to change for the better.

That’s why it is left for the Lord to do the same thing He did in His time—He turned to the Gentiles. After He rescued all of His own people who would be saved from His own nation, an obvious minority (the Remnant) as the majority of His people turned against Him, He then turned to the rich harvest field of the Gentiles. This is in part why so many non-Christians are seeing the light at present, so to speak. They are getting it and understand what is going on while most traditional “Christians” remain asleep, clueless, and too weak to do anything about what is happening. In the first century and shortly thereafter, Gentile believers began to greatly outnumber Israelite believers. It will likely be the same with our current Great Awakening in that new believers will be much more effective than traditional believers. This is in part why a Christian civil war has been transpiring for the last century or so. Traditional believers prove themselves too steeped in non-New Testament religious beliefs and act as Christian Pharisees persecuting new believers who don’t buy into such extra-Biblical beliefs and traditions and stand only for pure New Testament Truth.

Have you noticed there is little evidence of the Great Awakening within American Christianity in general? I have already stated here, at least about a year and a half ago, that every church in America should be having 24 hour a day prayer meetings against the onslaught of evil and corruption now taking place but no one is doing this, or only a few. It is why the Lord has had to turn to others, to “Gentiles.” And these people are obeying Him without really even knowing Him. But they will. And that could be when the Awakening goes into overdrive. That and whenever many more traditional Christians break out of their self-imposed religious limitations and join them. In that way the Christians can be the Lord’s witnesses to help the truth-telling “Gentiles” gain a relationship with the Lord Jesus and the truth-tellers can in turn reveal all the truth they have learned about the enemy and his ongoing agenda.

Thank you again, Linda, and thank you for your ongoing work shining a LIGHT for the Lord. Blessings

      • Yes, I have noticed the lack of apparent awakening in our own churches. We tend to just go on as we always have, believing that there is no need for change. I am excited, in my own church, to see a slow increase in young families; in the number of people of color, including our wonderful assistant pastor and his wife; and in the public sharing of testimonies of God’s grace in our lives. We’ve already been involved in outreach to the homeless and hungry. We have a strong missions program. And our young adults are wide open to being light-bearers!

  5. “One will notice that those who appreciated the Lord Jesus and became His followers back in His time were most often humble and self-effacing. In essence, they were teachable.” I loved this line. It resonates with the desire of my heart. I want to always be teachable. I want to remain humble and self-effacing. Thank you for your posts. I am praising the Lord for His answering prayer. Blessings to you.

    • Thank you Hope. I appreciate it. It is not possible to learn from the Lord unless one’s attitude is right. It is also not easy to learn His full curriculum. It takes much work and dedicated attention over many years and those who may achieve learning whatever they have are humbled by it. Because we have so many responsibilities in our lives it often takes a lifetime and even then we often have so much farther to go. It is good to get started with the basics, one of which is believing in the Lord Jesus, truly trusting Him, and having full confidence in Him. We can then read His written Word (we are so extremely blessed to have it) and take it all in to feed our spirit and satisfy our spiritual hunger with full confidence that it will be good, good for us, and enable its application to our full benefit.

This also benefits the Lord, of course. He wants to raise excellent children and make great disciples. It is also good so we can share it with others. I have often said that humility is a giant door. It allows us to enter the small narrow gate much easier. Being forever teachable regarding the Lord’s full and pure curriculum allows us to traverse the narrow way easier also. This is how real disciples mature and develop spiritually.

We are blessed to have a clear record of how the original Christians accomplished this in the first century and showed future generations how it is done. All glory to the Lord. Be blessed today, Hope. Thank you for your edifying work.

      • I completely agree with you, RJ. The more I learn the more I see to humble my heart. I am so grateful for the Word of God. I feel so blessed by how God works both through His Word and through His children. God bless you!

  6. Your entire article gives me strength to read the passages that you placed on here. When I read the Words, I feel something, I feel like the world is right when I dwell in His words. When I stop and look around me I can see the difference in those who choose the spirit and not the flesh.
    Your words here that you wrote are exactly how I feel;
Most of His followers were in some way solitary social misfits that somehow fit perfectly in the Lord’s band of spiritual brothers and sisters. When they found the Lord (when He found them), their lives suddenly made sense.
This is so very true. It took awhile but things finally make sense.
We have some friends here that have found the Jesus over the last few years and he and his family follow the word, law more then your average person. They do not work on Saturday at all, it is a time of worship and family and friends getting together. He owns a rock quarry in the area and closes it on Saturdays. Other people that needed to use this quarry were so upset with him in the beginning because they want to work on Saturdays. But he sticks to his decision to keeping it closed and now others have settled in to live by his decision and wait to start work on Sunday or Monday.
I don’t see that kind of commitment in the churches or from others. I fail in that sense as well. I don’t know what to think or do with that. Being retired I don’t work on Saturdays anyway. But I often think is this a requirement of our Father. I don’t understand all of this, was this a requirement for only those in the beginning. What are your thoughts on it?

    • Thank you Sandra. I appreciate your comment. You bring up some good points. First of all, one must appreciate the strong convictions of Christians who do their best to live the Word. Regarding Saturdays, it was, of course, according to the ancient Hebrews, the seventh day of the week and represented the day God rested from all His work of Creation. There has been much disagreement over the term “day” in Genesis 1. Some believe it literally means a 24 hour day. This could be true, as it is one of the meanings of the Hebrew word from which “day” is translated, but it could also mean in Hebrew a long indefinite period of time. Regardless, the Law of Moses teaches a seventh day Sabbath as a day of rest. It is the fourth of the Ten Commandments:

“Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a sabbath of the Lord your God; in it you shall not do any work, you or your son or your daughter, your male or your female servant or your cattle or your sojourner who stays with you. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day; therefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day and made it holy.” [Exodus 20:8-11]

The Lord Jesus always kept the Sabbath. He was the only Man who ever lived that actually kept the entire Law of Moses perfectly. He agreed with the Law as it was originally given. He fulfilled the Law. Therefore, regarding whatever He may not have addressed specifically within the Law within our written gospels, He followed the Law and by this we know what He believed on various issues. In other words, any unaddressed questions can be directed to the Law of Moses for an answer or for greater understanding.

Even though the Lord kept the Sabbath perfectly His entire life, some of the religious leaders, or most, often had a big problem with how He kept it. They often accused Him of violating the Sabbath. They had made the Sabbath something more than the Lord intended. The Lord told them that the Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. We must therefore not get ultra-religious about it.

Since the Sabbath is supposed to be a day of rest, one wonders when the Lord rested from His ministry work. Many preachers take Mondays off, for example, since they “work” on Sundays doing services. The Lord did not actually work a job or do physical work on Saturdays during His life but He did do ministry work on that day, at least some. He often healed people on the Sabbath, for example, and this is what provoked some of His detractors to accuse Him. Here is an excellent example:

At that time Jesus went through the grainfields on the Sabbath, and His disciples became hungry and began to pick the heads of grain and eat. But when the Pharisees saw this, they said to Him, “Look, Your disciples do what is not lawful to do on a Sabbath.” But He said to them, “Have you not read what David did when he became hungry, he and his companions, how he entered the house of God, and they ate the consecrated bread, which was not lawful for him to eat nor for those with him, but for the priests alone? Or have you not read in the Law, that on the Sabbath the priests in the temple break the Sabbath and are innocent? But I say to you that something greater than the temple is here. But if you had known what this means, ‘I desire compassion, and not a sacrifice,’ you would not have condemned the innocent. For the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath.”

Departing from there, He went into their synagogue. And a man was there whose hand was withered. And they questioned Jesus, asking, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?”—so that they might accuse Him. And He said to them, “What man is there among you who has a sheep, and if it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will he not take hold of it and lift it out? How much more valuable then is a man than a sheep! So then, it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.” Then He said to the man, “Stretch out your hand!” He stretched it out, and it was restored to normal, like the other. But the Pharisees went out and conspired against Him, as to how they might destroy Him. [Matthew 12:1-14]

This passage puts pretty much everything on the subject into the proper perspective. The Lord said it was lawful “to do good” on the Sabbath which included His ministry “work” done on that day. He also revealed how the priests “work” on the Sabbath but remain innocent of violating the Law. In other words, the issue is not so cut and dried as one may think.

Also, the Lord rose from the dead on what we call Sunday (the first day of the week according to the Hebrews). The first Day of Pentecost when the Holy Spirit arrived in the Upper Room was also on a Sunday. These are the principle reasons why the early Community of the Lord honored Sundays but they never made Sundays the Sabbath. Those Christian bodies that did obviously violated the Law. I just heard a minister speak about this. I happened to see it on television. He revealed the denomination that first did it and they still have never repented of it or changed what they did even though they admit they violated the Law. They claim their church standing gave them the authority to do it, though the Lord Jesus never did.

In the final analysis for this short reply, I think the best course is to obey one’s Christian convictions but I stress that such convictions must be based entirely on Scripture and specifically on the teachings of the Lord Jesus. Again, He never worked, as defined by the Law, on the Sabbath, meaning that prior to His ministry when He did work as a carpenter and builder He never did such work on the seventh day. Remember, He was the one who created the Universe and worked those original six “days.” He was also the one who gave the Law to Moses. He authored it. Thus, the Lord Jesus is the one who defines exactly what the Sabbath is and how to keep it. He is truly the Lord of the Sabbath.

Thanks again for your great comment, Sandra, and your question. I hope I gave you some further insight on the issue. Blessings to you

      • Yes, this answers my question, I often wondered why and how the work weeks came about. Why we work Mon thru Fri and people did all their chores on Saturday. Growing up, Saturdays were for cleaning the house or the horse barn for me. It was a regular thing. Thank you RJ. I am so glad you are back. I have so many questions, one never stops learning.

  7. Brother RJ, spot on. I read this last week but didn’t take time to respond until now. Honestly in many ways I feel numb to the spiritual degradation we are witnessing. Much like a wound that won’t heal. I read too much on Dissentr, Apostasy Watch as presented by Steve Lumbly, etc. But I know the Lord Jesus is well able to sustain His people through this spiritual battle. I do remain prayerful and hopeful in the Lord. Not in this world.

And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven, having the key to the Abyss and holding in his hand a great chain. 2 He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan, and bound him for a thousand years. 3 He threw him into the Abyss, and locked and sealed it over him, to keep him from deceiving the nations anymore until the thousand years were ended. After that, he must be set free for a short time.

4 I saw thrones on which were seated those who had been given authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony about Jesus and because of the word of God. They[a] had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ a thousand years. 5 (The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended.) This is the first resurrection. 6 Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years. (Rev 20:4-6)

    • Thanks Al. I appreciate it. Yes, one wonders how far the degeneration will go. We have much historical background to go by, however. The first generation of Christians had far more to deal with than we do and ended up greatly victorious. I think the bigger issue is the corruption within official “Christianity.” The drift there has been steady at best and exponential among some. I wrote about much of this in my book a quarter century ago. Things have only gotten far worse since.

The good news, of course, is that the Kingdom of the Lord Jesus is still pure and powerful and strong and a giant headache for the enemy. We are blessed to have such a great place of refuge provided by the Lord in this fallen world. I fully agree with your statement that the Lord will sustain His people regardless of how bad things may get. His promises are eternal and are still very much in effect. We have great cause to be encouraged and strive to continue winning spiritual victories.

Blessings to you, Al. Thanks again.

  8. Dear RJ, Great post. The obvious truth of Jesus the Messiah is still being rejected by the many who are blind because of their prejudice and hardened hearts. It is obvious too that whoever rejects Jesus will not have eternal life, but will be lost forever. That is the cold, hard fact. We need to pray hard for the blind to see.

    • Amen Dee. Thank you for this excellent comment. I appreciate it. You have stated the obvious. We must continue to pray.

The most obvious fact of the entire Gospel message, of course, is that the Lord Jesus loves us so much He was willing to suffer and die to purchase our salvation. He sacrificed everything for us and perfectly demonstrated the greatest love. This truth should be powerfully proclaimed in every single Christian meeting and church service on the planet every day but sadly, is not. It is most often the case that church services are spiritually meaningless and “preaching” is nothing more than non-convicting drivel that coddles the flesh and makes a mockery of the Lord’s powerful sin-atoning death. The apostle Paul had it right when he wrote the following:

And when I came to you, brethren, I did not come with superiority of speech or of wisdom, proclaiming to you the testimony of God. For I determined to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ, and Him crucified. I was with you in weakness and in fear and in much trembling, and my message and my preaching were not in persuasive words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, so that your faith would not rest on the wisdom of men, but on the power of God. [1Corinthians 2:1-5]

Where is the wise man? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not come to know God, God was well-pleased through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe. For indeed Jews ask for signs and Greeks search for wisdom; but we preach Christ crucified, to Jews a stumbling block and to Gentiles foolishness, but to those who are the called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men. [1Corinthians 1:20-25]

Blessings to you Dee. Keep up the great work.
